Snorkels
 With
a snorkel, people function in the Ocean much like whales or dolphins - with a
breathing opening in the top of the head. Snorkels let us swim on the
surface and watch the world beneath. Snorkels let us maneuver on the
surface with little effort and let us breathe without lifting our heads out of
the water.
A snorkel can also help you conserve the air in your cylinder - if you use
your snorkel to surface swim to the dive site instead of using your scuba
regulator.
A good snorkel should have:
 A large
bore or diameter. This allows unrestricted breathing and easy
clearing of water.
Self-Draining
Purge. Allows the majority of the water to start draining upon
reaching the surface.
Flexible
Material. Allows a comfortable fit against your head.
Comfortable
Mouthpiece. Gives the user a comfortable grip in the mouth.
Adjustable
Mouthpiece. Gives the user's mouthpiece a more comfortable
angle.
Snorkel
Clip. This attaches the snorkel to your mask strap.
Helpful
Hints. It's a good idea to carry an extra snorkel clip in case
yours breaks!
