Russian writing on the side of the ship is a reminder of its most recent tour of duty — in the movie "Virus," when it played the role of a Russian research vessel. Once on the sandy bottom of the ocean, the hull of the ship will be in 140 feet of water, but the top of its superstructure will be in 40 feet of water, visible to snorkelers at the surface. The
520-foot vessel, surrounded by tugboats, left its mooring on the James River in
Newport News, Va., Friday morning and eased into a berth at Colonna's Shipyard
in Norfolk, where crews will clean it and remove all toxins before a team of
experts sinks the 1944 ship six miles off Key West. 
Each
of the deluxe guest rooms overlooks either the serene Gulf of Mexico or our
swimming complex. Each room is appointed with refrigerator, coffee maker,
hairdryer, iron/ironing board, in-room safe, remote control color cable 25-inch
TV with free HBO, and two direct dial phones, one with fax/computer hookup.
